Your YMCA Today
Today, Your YMCA is “housed” in a number of different facilities across HRM and the province that best serve the community through both an outlet and outreach model while still maintaining a strong presence for 58 years on South Park Street. Over 50,000 people are touched by involvement with Your YMCA every year.
Over the past three years, Your YMCA has invested significant capital dollars in the Dartmouth Family YMCA, The Community YMCA and YMCA Camp Big Cove as well as ongoing investment in program equipment in Child Care and recreational programs.
At this juncture in time the replacement of the aging YMCA South Park Centre is the greatest priority for our organization. The South Park YMCA has long served the residents of HRM but today is challenged to remain relevant due to accessibility barriers and aging infrastructure.
We are committed to the development of a new regional YMCA Centre of Community in which people of all ages, abilities, social and economic backgrounds can participate and in doing so add to the inventory of community based health, recreation and community development facilities in HRM.
